Carolina received her Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. She then became an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering and a Research Associate with the Department of Physiology and Biomedical Engineering and the Ultrasound Research Laboratory at Mayo Clinic. Currently she is a Senior Scientist at Philips Research North America.
Her research interest has been the noninvasive evaluation of soft tissue mechanical properties with ultrasound imaging techniques such as shear wave elastography. Her research experience includes extensive tissue mimicking phantom design, shear wave elastography validation studies and preclinical studies in animal and human as well as biomedical signal and image processing.
